This beautiful flame mahogany dresser got a sophisticated update! My clients wanted to preserve as much of the original wood grain as possible. We opted toward restoration with partial paint as a backup plan, and I'm so glad that we didn't add any paint.

The top was pretty badly damaged, so it was stripped and sanded, then re-stained with a custom combination of gel stains to give that rich, warm tone that antique furniture often has. A deep clean helped to reveal which areas needed extra attention, including the missing chunk of wood next to the keyhole on the top drawer. To address the missing wood, I used some salvaged veneer from a previous project, and color matched it to the best of my ability.

A new brass keyhole cover, updated knobs, fresh polyurethane on top, and beeswax on the body tie this timeless beauty together for a classic look that's ready for the next hundred years. Check out the before photos for a reminder of how it used to look.
