🤍 This beautiful, large cedar chest was manufactured by Lane in 1955. Originally made with a blonde factory finish, the chest had yellowed and lost its original luster, and the hardware had rusted out. Time for a refresh! 
🤍 The cedar chest has been updated using the color Sonnet White, a bright, crisp neutral white, by Mélange Paints. The base of the chest was removed and stripped of the veneer to reveal solid poplar wood. The wood was treated with a custom paint wash (to even out the tones of the wood grain) and sealed with a water-based satin polyurethane.
🤍 The original hardware has been removed and was replaced with new simple gold hardware for a clean modern look. The cedar chest features one real drawer for extra storage on the bottom (and several faux drawers along the body). The inside of the drawer has been lined with a botanical print to tie into the overall look.
🤍 The inside of the chest has been refreshed with cedar oil to revive the wood. The original lock is intact, however; the latch has been removed for child safety. The entire piece has been sealed in a water-based satin polyurethane for additional durability and a lovely sheer.
🤍 This beautiful and unique cedar chest provides tons of storage with a simple yet modern flare. The back side of the chest is unpainted, so it would look best flushed up against a wall.
