🔨 Looking for a unique piece that is packed full of character? Look no further! This incredible rustic wood chest appears to have been hand-built, likely around the early 1900s, possibly earlier! The hand-forged square nails, original hinges, and heavy-duty handles indicate that this chest has been around for quite some time.
🔨 The outside of the chest has been completely sanded down to lighten up the overall tone of the wood, dramatically increasing the rustic character of this large piece of furniture. The inside has been completely scrubbed out and revived with an unscented furniture tonic.
🔨 Bun feet that were salvaged from another refinishing project have been added to the trunk, helping to get it up off of the ground a bit. The trunk was made primarily with large, heavy timbers that have been nailed together with primitive wood trim pieces. The outside of the trunk has been sealed with a water-based satin polyurethane and a bit of wax to add to the depth of its character.
🔨 It would be a fantastic coffee table for a larger living room, would be great at the end of a bigger bed, and would also make a fantastic entryway piece for extra storage. This chest is no joke - it is larger than the photos convey and quite heavy. The original hinges have been cleaned and repainted to help them age with less rusting.
🔨 Please note: this is a special piece of furniture with lots of markings and imperfections consistent with its age. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine, near the high school. Please see detailed measurements below.
