💙 This stunning Lane cedar chest was manufactured in 1937. Full of peeling and chipped veneer, it was showing its age. To even out the surface of the body, the appliqués were removed and salvaged. Next, the peeling and damaged veneer was removed from the front, side, and top of the chest. The top of the chest was bleached.

💙 After a good sanding, the wood appliqués were reapplied. The beautiful turned legs were sanded down to raw wood, and a light paint wash was applied to the legs and the poplar patchwork top.

💙 The body was painted in Inkwell, a beautiful navy blue by Wise Owl Paint. The sheen on this piece is just right, and the color pairs wonderfully with the light wood on the top and legs.

💙 The inside of the chest has been refreshed with cedar oil to reinvigorate the scent. The lock is intact, however; the latch mechanism has been removed for child safety reasons. The back of the chest has also been painted so that it does not need to be flushed up against a wall. Imagine this chest at the foot of a bed, underneath a window, or in a nook where you might need some extra storage and a pretty piece of furniture! Measures 40" wide, 17½" deep and 19¼" high. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine, near the high school.
